Facing increasingly severe weather and frequent storms, An Khe-Ka Nak Hydropower Company in Gia Lai Province has reinforced its commitment to disaster prevention, environmental protection, and downstream safety as part of its core operations.

For nearly 15 years of operation (2011–2025), both An Khê and Ka Nak reservoirs have maintained a flawless safety record, with no dam-related incidents reported, a testament to the company’s rigorous and proactive management practices.

At the start of 2025, the company strengthened its Steering Board for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue, reviewed contingency plans, and organized drills to enhance response readiness. It also carried out public awareness campaigns to educate downstream communities on flood regulation signals and emergency scenarios.

An Khe-Ka Nak hydropower works closely with the Gia Lai Provincial Civil Defense Command and local authorities to provide timely, transparent updates. The company ensures compliance with national regulations, including the Ba River basin’s inter-reservoir operation procedures (Decision No. 878 dated July 18, 2018) and the single-reservoir procedures (Decision No. 67 dated January 20, 2022) issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

To strengthen operational safety, the company inspects flood discharge corridors, maintains access roads and spillways, services downstream flood warning systems, and ensures sufficient materials and backup equipment for emergencies. It also regularly updates weather forecasts, monitors hydrological systems, and coordinates closely with meteorological agencies to optimize flood regulation operations.

Technology upgrades have further improved resilience. The company has enhanced its SCADA and Distributed Control System for remote monitoring and control, reducing risks and improving power generation efficiency. The automation system supports smart management, more accurate flood forecasting, and faster downstream alerts.

In parallel with disaster preparedness, the company places strong emphasis on environmental protection. Since early 2025, initiatives such as “Volunteer Saturdays,” “Green Sundays,” and “Greening the Plant - Greening the reservoir” have mobilized employees to clean facilities, dredge waterways, collect waste, and preserve water quality in both the reservoir and downstream communities.

Working with local authorities, the company plants trees along reservoir banks to prevent erosion and enhance the landscape. Continuous water quality monitoring ensures compliance and transparency, with results regularly reported to regulatory agencies.

These environmental programs not only improve the ecosystem and living conditions for downstream residents but also align with the sustainable development goals of EVNGENCO2 and the Vietnam Electricity Group, linking power generation with social and environmental responsibility.

Upholding EVNGENCO2’s values of Trust, Quality, and Pioneering Spirit, An Khe-Ka Nak Hydropower continues to pursue safe operations, sustainability, and community engagement, spreading the image of a professional, responsible, and compassionate power enterprise.
