After a period of preparation, three men's teams from Gia Lai—Gia Lai KNBR, Gia Lai Tsunami, and Gia Lai—are entering the tournament with confidence and determination.
Recently, the organizing committee of the 2025 National U23 5x5 Basketball Championship announced that four women’s teams and thirteen men’s teams from various units across the country have registered to participate.
At the U23 level, the tournament is expected to gather many highly skilled athletes, some of whom have competed in the Vietnam Basketball Association (VBA) professional league.
Among the 11 athletes recently announced for the U23 Lam Dong women’s team, two notable names are Duong Thi Tu Uyen and Lieu Yen Nhi. Both players trained with the Vietnam women’s national team this past July and are expected to pose significant challenges for Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City–Ba Ria Vung Tau.
In the men’s division, in addition to familiar faces, the Han River team has welcomed several notable new players, including the “three princes of the capital” - Pham Nhat Thai Quang, Le Hoang Quan, and Nguyen Anh Hao.
This trio, who previously played for the Hanoi team, are expected to strengthen the U23 Da Nang squad, making it deeper and more competitive.
Additionally, for the U23 Ho Chi Minh City men’s team, Huynh Truc Nhan is considered one of the most experienced “veterans” at the U23 level.
Having competed in numerous national youth tournaments, Truc Nhan has become a key pillar in the team’s quest for the championship.
To prepare for the tournament, all three men’s teams from Gia Lai have been training and improving their skills from an early stage.
The athletes have undergone tests on physical fitness, individual skills, and teamwork.
Based on these assessments, the coaching staff evaluates each player’s expertise, attitude, and development potential to select the final roster for the competition.
Coach Nguyen Dinh Cam shared: “All funding for Gia Lai’s basketball teams to participate in this tournament comes from socialization source. The coaching staff and the entire team hope to create motivation and contribute to the development of basketball in the province, especially among the youth.”
“We are not putting too much emphasis on results, but basketball always brings surprises. This was evident in the results of the 2024 National U20 3x3 Basketball Championship. We hope the players will deliver a strong performance,” Nguyen Dinh Cam added.
