The August Revolution in 1945 was described as a “once-in-a-millennium” opportunity, when millions of Vietnamese, across social classes, religions, and political beliefs, rose in a nationwide general uprising. The movement seized power and opened a new era of independence for the country.

The victory was the first major triumph under the Communist Party’s leadership and demonstrated what the Party called the courage and wisdom of its chosen revolutionary path, with President Ho Chi Minh at the forefront.

Eight decades later, the revolution is still regarded in Vietnam as a turning point that continues to inspire the Party, army, and people to preserve national unity, overcome challenges, and pursue the goals set out in the 13th National Party Congress.
