They are among 40 athletes in Vietnam’s 83-member delegation, which also includes officials, referees and coaches.
The athletes were selected for their achievements at national and international competitions.
The championships are expected to bring together approximately 600 athletes, coaches, referees, officials and other delegates from 45 countries.
Before departing, Gia Lai’s athletes completed intensive training at National Sports Training Center 2 in Ho Chi Minh City, focusing on physical fitness and technical preparation.
The province’s 12-member contingent also includes Grandmaster Bùi Trung Hiếu, deputy director of its Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and vice president of the Vietnam Traditional Martial Arts Federation, who is serving as a delegation official. Senior Master Trần Duy Linh, director of the Bình Định Traditional Martial Arts Center, is attending as a referee.
Organised by the World Federation of Vietnamese Traditional Martial Arts (WFVV) and the Italian Federation of Wushu Kung Fu and Vietnamese Martial Arts (FIWuK), the event has support from the Emilia-Romagna region and the city of Cervia, in Ravenna province.
Competition spans age groups from under 17 to 41–60, with combat, forms and paired routines on the programme.
Combat events are open to athletes aged 18–40 in two formats: H1, without helmets or body armour, and H2, with helmets, body armour and elbow protection.
Forms events include compulsory and optional forms, alongside paired routines. The under-17 programme also features group performances and paired routines, while competitors aged 41–60 take part in optional forms and paired routines.
Alongside the championships, organisers will hold the second WFVV General Assembly for the 2026–2031 term, referee training, belt promotion examinations and professional seminars.
These activities will allow masters, coaches and referees to exchange experience on competition rules, training methods and athlete development.
The event gives Gia Lai’s athletes an opportunity to gain international competition experience while promoting Vietnam’s traditional martial arts and strengthening cooperation with overseas organisations.
