Bình Định FC face mounting pressure to revive their 2026 National Third Division campaign after taking four points from five matches, leaving them fifth in Group A with five games remaining.

The league newcomers have won once, drawn once and lost three times. They trail group leaders Tây Mỗ FC by 9 points and need a stronger second half of the season to sustain their hopes of a top-two finish.

Head coach Lê Minh Mính is working to address weaknesses in both attack and defence after his young side failed to build on an encouraging opening victory.

Bình Định FC began their campaign on October 12 with a home win over Vạn Xuân Đan Phượng, secured by 2 goals from striker Nguyễn Đình Bưởi.

They then lost 2-0 to Tây Mỗ FC before drawing 1-1 with Trung tâm Thể thao II Ninh Bình. A 3-0 defeat by Hanoi Bulls FC and a 1-0 loss to Division 3 Hà Nội FC followed, leaving them fifth in the six-team group at the halfway stage.

The results have exposed difficulties in maintaining attacking pressure, creating openings and converting chances.

Defensive gaps have also emerged when opponents increase the intensity of their attacks.

Mính said the defeats had provided lessons for his players and coaching staff, who were focused on correcting those shortcomings ahead of the remaining fixtures.

Bình Định FC assembled their squad, made up mainly of young local players, with limited time to prepare and establish a playing style.

The club aims to develop local talent, build consistency and compete with the league’s leading teams.

Their immediate challenge is to close the gap on the sides above them. Bình Định FC sit three points behind Vạn Xuân Đan Phượng and five behind Hạng 3 Hà Nội FC, while Tây Mỗ FC lead the group with 13 points.

Meetings with their Group A rivals will be critical to their chances of climbing the table.

Victories would allow Bình Định FC to gain ground while denying points to competing teams, although they also need other results to go their way.

Further dropped points would leave Mính’s side with less room to recover in the race for the top two.

Mính said the team would seek the best possible result in every remaining match, making full use of the players’ abilities and demonstrating the qualities of Bình Định football.

The second half of the 2026 National Third Division Football Championship will take place from October 27 to November 9. During this period, Bình Định FC will face Vạn Xuân Đan Phượng on October 27, Hưng Khôi Hà Nội on October 30, Trung tâm Thể thao II Ninh Bình on November 3, Hạng 3 Hà Nội FC on November 5, and Hanoi Bulls FC on November 8.
