Gia Lai’s Nguyễn Quốc Nguyện defeated Spain’s David Martinez 4-1 in South Korea on October 12 to win his second PBA Tour three-cushion carom billiards title, earning 100 million won, equivalent to nearly VND 2 billion (approximately US$78,000).

The victory makes Nguyện the most successful Vietnamese player in PBA history, with two individual tour titles and two team championships. His first individual title came in February 2026.

Nguyện reached the final after six consecutive victories in the knockout tournament, starting in the round of 128.

Martinez entered the final as the favourite. One of the PBA circuit’s most decorated players, the Spaniard had won eight Tour titles and finished runner-up on three other occasions, compared with Nguyện’s one previous championship.

But Nguyện took control early, winning the opening three sets 15-10, 15-14 and 15-9 to build a 3-0 lead.
