Gia Lai launches 2026 badminton and table tennis festival with more than 580 athletes

More than 580 athletes from across Gia Lai Province and beyond gathered on June 28 for the opening of the 2026 Gia Lai Provincial Badminton and Table Tennis Sports Festival and the 2026 Gia Lai Provincial Open Badminton Club Championship at the Gia Lai Provincial Sports Arena in Quy Nhon Ward.

Organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the events feature two major competitions aimed at promoting badminton and table tennis while providing opportunities for athletes to compete and develop their skills.

The 2026 Gia Lai Provincial Badminton and Table Tennis Sports Festival has attracted more than 450 coaches and athletes representing 44 participating units. Competitors are contesting men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles events.

The 2026 Gia Lai Provincial Open Badminton Club Championship has drawn 130 athletes from 10 clubs within and outside the province. Players are competing in men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles across multiple age categories.

Organizers said the tournaments provide a platform for athletes to exchange experience, learn from one another and improve their competitive standards. The events also enable the organizing committee to evaluate the quality of badminton and table tennis training programmes among participating localities and units.

The competitions will conclude on July 1.
