Martial artists representing dojos and clubs from Gia Lai province and numerous other provinces and cities performed the signature routines "Quyền căn bản công" and "Hùng kê quyền." The coordinated displays highlighted the strength, discipline and enduring spirit of Vietnam's traditional martial arts heritage.
Gia Lai fielded one of the festival's largest contingents, with martial artists from local dojos and schools delivering carefully rehearsed performances that underscored the province's growing traditional martial arts movement.
Huỳnh Minh Nhật, a member of the Long Phước Pagoda Traditional Martial Arts Club, said it was an honour to perform at the festival's opening ceremony on Aug. 2 and to participate in the mass demonstration the following morning.
He described the festival as a valuable opportunity to exchange experience with martial artists from Vietnam and abroad while introducing Binh Dinh traditional martial arts to a wider audience of visitors and international guests.
Bùi Trung Hiếu, Deputy Director of Gia Lai's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said the strong turnout of martial artists contributed significantly to the festival's success while demonstrating the continued growth of traditional martial arts across Gia Lai and neighbouring regions.
He said the performances and exchanges were intended to promote the martial spirit, inspire younger generations to take pride in Vietnamese traditional martial arts, and strengthen Gia Lai's reputation as a province committed to preserving and promoting the heritage of Binh Dinh traditional martial arts both domestically and internationally.
The mass performance forms part of a broader programme of events during the 9th International Vietnamese Traditional Martial Arts Festival – Gia Lai 2026, which aims to encourage physical fitness, preserve traditional martial arts heritage and support the province's cultural and tourism development.
Festival activities continue later on Aug. 3 with a martial arts exchange and demonstration at Quy Nhon Green Park from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., featuring nearly 500 masters and martial artists from Vietnamese and international delegations, including participants from France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Thailand, Russia, China, Morocco and Algeria.
On Aug. 4, domestic and international delegations will continue performances and cultural exchanges at several historical and cultural landmarks across Gia Lai province, including Long Phước Pagoda in Tuy Phước commune, Quang Trung Museum in Tây Sơn commune and the An Khê School Relic in An Khê Ward, bringing traditional martial arts closer to local communities and visitors while encouraging further exchanges among participating teams.
