(GLO) – Traffic police in Gia Lai province arranged emergency transport for a struggling family traveling by motorbike to Ho Chi Minh City for urgent medical treatment.

At around 8 a.m. on September 19, a patrol team from the Tuy Phước traffic police station, under the Gia Lai provincial Police Department, encountered a man riding a dilapidated Cub motorbike on National Highway 1A in Trà Lương hamlet, Phù Mỹ Tây commune. His wife, holding their young daughter, sat on the back along with bundles of belongings.

Police identified the rider as Nguyễn Hồ Duy Bình, 32, from Hoài Nhơn Bắc ward, and his wife, Lê Thị Thanh Tâm, 38, who has long suffered from diabetes.

Their daughter, born in 2021, is deaf, mute, and diagnosed with diaphragmatic muscle weakness and a lung tumor requiring surgery.

The family’s circumstances are dire. Their elder daughter, an eighth grader, remains at home with grandparents. Bình earns irregular income from odd jobs, while his wife’s health requires frequent hospitalization.

Since early this year, the family has made multiple trips to Ho Chi Minh City by motorbike to seek treatment. Once there, Bình works as a construction laborer or sells balloons, while the family sleeps in hospital wards.

“This time, we were fortunate to receive help from the traffic police. Otherwise, I don’t know when we would have arrived. The bike is in terrible shape, and my daughter can’t endure long journeys,” Bình said emotionally.
