The decision, outlined in Resolution No. 389/NQ-CP, updates Resolution No. 127/NQ-CP issued on August 14, 2023, which governs the issuance of e-visas to citizens of approved countries and territories.
The expanded list includes four international airports—Long Thanh in Đồng Nai, Gia Bình in Bắc Ninh, Vinh in Nghệ An, and Chu Lai in Đà Nẵng.
Eleven land border gates were also added: Đồng Đăng (Lạng Sơn), Lào Cai, Trà Lĩnh (Cao Bằng), Lóng Sập (Sơn La), Nam Giang (Đà Nẵng), Lệ Thanh (Gia Lai), Bình Hiệp and Tân Nam (Tây Ninh), Thường Phước and Dinh Bà (Đồng Tháp), and Thanh Thủy (Tuyên Quang).
With the additions, Vietnam now has 27 land checkpoints implementing e-visa procedures, 16 of which have adopted the system since 2023.
The update further incorporates 26 seaports, including Vạn Gia (Quảng Ninh), Diêm Điền (Hưng Yên), Hải Thịnh and Ninh Bình (Ninh Bình), Cửa Lò–Bến Thủy (Nghệ An), Sơn Dương (Hà Tĩnh), Gianh, Hòn La and Cửa Việt (Quảng Trị), Thuận An (Huế), Kỳ Hà (Đà Nẵng), Sa Kỳ (Quảng Ngãi), Vũng Rô (Đắk Lắk), Cà Ná and Ninh Chữ (Khánh Hòa), Phú Quý and Liên Hương (Lâm Đồng), Bến Lức (Tây Ninh), Đồng Tháp and Soài Rạp–Hiệp Phước (Đồng Tháp), Mỹ Thới, An Thới and Hòn Chông (An Giang), along with Trường Long Hòa, Giao Long (Vĩnh Long) and Năm Căn (Cà Mau).
Quy Nhơn Port has also processed e-visa entry and exit procedures since 2023.
Before the latest expansion, Vietnam operated 42 international checkpoints accepting electronic visas under the 2023 resolution.
