Young people across Gia Lai province are driving a wave of tourism promotion through a short-video competition launched by the Gia Lai Provincial Youth Union.

The “Gia Lai youth and tourism development” contest encourages local pride and showcases the province’s cultural, historical, and natural beauty to audiences nationwide and abroad.

From 77 initial entries, the 10 best video clips have entered the online voting round on the “Tuổi trẻ Gia Lai” Facebook page, drawing thousands of views, likes, and shares, a sign of the contest’s strong social media reach and engagement among youth.

One notable entry, “Pleiku Prison, where memories become immortal,” was produced by Captain Nguyễn Hữu Hiếu of the Gia Lai Provincial Police.

In a three-minute film, Hiếu guides viewers through the Pleiku Prison heritage site with dynamic visuals, historical artifacts, and an emotional narration.

The video provides coordinates, directions via Google Maps, and a QR code for easy access. “I hope to spread pride in our national history so today’s youth will understand the value of peace and feel responsible for contributing to its development,” Hiếu said.

Another standout is “Kon Ka Kinh National Park - Touching the legend of the great forest” by Lê Thị Lan Hương, Secretary of the Chu Văn An Secondary School Youth Union in Mang Yang Commune.

With over 15,000 views and 1,200 likes, the video highlights the grandeur of Kon Ka Kinh National Park, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve and ASEAN Heritage Park.

Using aerial footage and Bahnar-language narration, the video captures the pristine forests and trekking route to Đá Trắng Peak, accompanied by English subtitles to reach international audiences.

“It took me about a week to film and edit. The message I want to share is: ‘Protect the forest today, youth build tomorrow,’” Hương said.

Other entries explore local cuisine and traditions, such as Phan Thị Yến’s “Experiencing the Traditional Rice Paper Making Craft” from Tuy Phước Bắc Commune. The video documents the rice paper-making process and aims to attract visitors to the centuries-old craft village. Yến shared, “We hope tourists will discover and experience our homeland’s unique cuisine.”

Videos also feature destinations including Nhơn Hải fishing village, Mũi Vi Rồng, Hoài Nhơn region, Bánh Ít Tower, and Central Highlands communal houses, along with rustic dishes like bún tôm and bún rạm, forming a vivid mosaic of Gia Lai’s tourism potential.

According to competition guidelines, each video must be 1-3 minutes long, shot vertically in Full HD, and highlight a distinctive tourism theme with location details, directions, and a welcoming message.

Hồ Trần Phú Nghĩa, Head Judge and member of the Gia Lai Youth Union’s Standing Committee, said: “The short, vertical clips are perfect for platforms like TikTok. They show how youth can deliver powerful messages in just a few minutes.”

The online voting phase remains open, with the awards ceremony scheduled for October 12. Prizes, funded by local sponsors and valued collectively at around 100 million VND (approximately USD 3,900), will recognize outstanding creative efforts.

Đỗ Đức Thanh, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Gia Lai Youth Union, emphasized the competition’s wider significance: “By empowering young people as pioneers in digital transformation, the event provides a healthy and creative platform while promoting Gia Lai’s image to visitors everywhere.”

With energy and innovation, Gia Lai’s youth are transforming digital storytelling into a bridge connecting their homeland’s heritage, nature, and culture with travelers across Vietnam and beyond.
