The merger will integrate technical infrastructure, human resources, and equipment from VNPT Bình Định, the VNPT Bình Định Business Center (Gia Lai East), VNPT Gia Lai, and the VNPT Gia Lai Business Center (Gia Lai West).
The new headquarters will be located at 33 Nguyễn Trãi Street, Quy Nhơn Ward, Gia Lai Province, acting Director Trần Quốc Việt said.

With a larger operational scale, VNPT Gia Lai is expected to better serve the telecommunications and information technology needs of residents, businesses, and local authorities.
The province, Vietnam’s second largest by area, faces challenging terrain and a long border, making investment in stable, modern digital infrastructure critical for socio-economic development, defense, and digital transformation.
VNPT’s current infrastructure covers all communes and wards with fiber optic networks and more than 1,800 3G/4G/5G base stations. It is also rolling out XGSPON and Wifi 6/7 technologies to triple internet speeds, fully meeting demand from households and enterprises.

The province’s connectivity is further enhanced by the SJC2 international submarine cable, a 10,500-kilometer system with 144 Tbps capacity, directly linked to Gia Lai through the Quy Nhơn Nam landing point. This network gives Gia Lai an advantage in attracting investment in high-tech industries such as artificial intelligence, data centers, and software development.
The merger follows earlier collaboration between the People’s Committees of Bình Định and Gia Lai and VNPT in deploying IT systems for the two-tier government model. The upgraded VNPT iGate platform integrated data from both provinces to ensure smooth operations from July 1.

Looking ahead, VNPT Gia Lai plans to focus on implementing Politburo Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on science, technology, and national digital transformation. Priorities include expanding 5G networks, applying AI and Big Data, building smart cities, training digital talent, supporting businesses in transformation, and strengthening cybersecurity.
“This merger not only shows VNPT Gia Lai’s adaptability and innovation, but also lays the foundation for comprehensive digital transformation in the province,” said Huỳnh Hồ Hoài Nam, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology. “It opens new opportunities for breakthrough growth driven by knowledge, technology, and innovation.”
