Under Decision No. 2649/QD-UBND issued by the provincial People's Committee, Plei Thơ Ga Energy Joint Stock Company has been appointed to develop the project.
The floating solar plant is expected to generate about 37,995 MWh of electricity annually, helping supply clean power to the national grid while supporting energy security and the province's socio-economic development.
The project will occupy approximately 28 hectares and requires an estimated investment of VND450 billion (about US$17.3 million). The investor will provide 20% of the total capital, with the remaining funding to be mobilized from other sources.
The project has an operating term of 50 years. Investment preparation procedures are scheduled for completion in 2026, construction is expected to begin in December 2026, and commercial operations are planned to start in August 2027.
As part of the approval, the provincial People's Committee requires the investor to comply with regulations governing land use, environmental protection, irrigation, dam safety, fire prevention and firefighting, and other relevant sectoral requirements.
The investor must also safeguard the rights of affected residents, avoid using chemical detergents during plant operations, and implement measures to protect the water quality of the Plei Thơ Ga reservoir.
