Under Plan No. 299/KH-UBND issued by the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, the province will broaden communications campaigns introducing its people, history, culture and development achievements to audiences worldwide.
The initiative is aligned with Vietnam's Strategy for Promoting the Country's Image Overseas for the 2026-2030 period, with a vision to 2045, as set out in Decision No. 173/QĐ-TTg issued by the Prime Minister on Jan. 27, 2026.
Provincial authorities said the strategy will prioritize accurate, objective and diverse storytelling, with content tailored to different international audiences. The province aims to present Gia Lai through professional and modern communications that meet international standards.
The plan outlines six priority areas: raising awareness of the importance of international image promotion; developing communications content and messaging; building a digital media ecosystem to showcase the province; strengthening coordination and mobilizing social resources; improving communications capacity and human resources; and establishing monitoring, evaluation and policy adjustment mechanisms.
A key focus of the strategy is promoting local stories, exemplary individuals, major events, initiatives and outstanding products to strengthen the "Gia Lai" brand. The province also plans to showcase cultural and historical assets, including the Gong Cultural Space, the Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da Victory, Bài Chòi Bình Định, the Gia Lai Ethnic Culture Festival and the Wild Sunflower Festival at Chu Dang Ya Volcano, while linking promotion with long-term preservation and sustainable development.
Gia Lai also intends to deepen cooperation with Vietnam's external news agencies, international media organizations and social media platforms to expand the global reach of positive and objective information about the province.
The province has set a target of increasing positive international media coverage of Gia Lai by at least 20% annually across news outlets, social media and digital platforms, while reducing the impact of misinformation and distorted reporting.
Provincial officials said strengthening Gia Lai's international image is expected to increase global awareness, foster goodwill and reinforce confidence in both Vietnam's development achievements and the province's own progress.
Authorities also expect the initiative to strengthen Gia Lai's reputation, identity and competitiveness, creating more favourable conditions for expanding international cooperation, attracting investment, boosting tourism, supporting socio-economic development, enhancing national defence and security, and advancing deeper and more sustainable international integration.
