Phu Quoc has emerged as the most-searched domestic destination for Vietnamese travelers planning trips for the 2026 New Year holiday, according to new data from Booking.com.

The holiday falls near the end of the week, giving travelers a longer break and prompting strong interest in short-haul and familiar locations.

Booking.com’s survey indicates that 69% of Vietnamese travelers prefer domestic trips during the year-end period, with 42% favoring destinations they already know and 37% choosing places that require minimal travel time. These preferences have reinforced the popularity of established tourist hubs.

Phu Quoc leads the list with an 86% year-on-year increase in search volume for travel between 20 December 2025 and 4 January 2026. Da Lat, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hanoi follow, supported by their festive activities and special holiday events. Other coastal destinations such as Da Nang, Nha Trang, Vung Tau, and Mui Ne also remain strong choices, while Hoi An and Sa Pa attract travelers seeking cultural immersion and unique seasonal experiences.

The top 10 most-searched domestic destinations for the 2026 New Year holiday are Phu Quoc, Da Lat, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Vung Tau, Mui Ne, Hoi An, and Sa Pa.

Vietnamese travelers are also actively searching for international options. The top 10 most-searched overseas destinations are Bangkok, Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Sydney, Chiang Mai, and Paris.
