Gia Lai province will host the second Vietnam Travel Day from August 13 to 17, bringing together around 550 domestic and international businesses in an effort to expand international visitor markets, strengthen industry partnerships and develop new tourism products.

The event is expected to provide a major platform for cooperation among travel agencies, tourism service providers and international partners, while helping improve the competitiveness of Vietnam’s tourism sector.

Directed by the Vietnam Tourism Association and the Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee, the event will be jointly organized by the Vietnam Society of Travel Agents (VISTA), the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Gia Lai Tourism Association and FLC Group.

The program will include surveys of Gia Lai’s tourism products, the opening ceremony and destination promotion activities, business networking sessions and an international travel forum under the theme “Accelerating International Tourist Arrivals to Vietnam: New Markets – New Products – New Partnerships”.

Other activities will include a seminar on measures to rapidly increase international arrivals to Gia Lai, a business networking gala dinner and additional meetings between tourism enterprises.

According to the Organizing Committee, one of the event’s biggest challenges is attracting a large number of international travel agencies while encouraging domestic businesses to participate in networking activities and explore potential partnerships.

Organizers said face-to-face meetings could help businesses better understand each other’s needs, establish partnerships, develop new tourism products and expand markets, ultimately attracting more international visitors to Vietnam.

Cao Thi Ngoc Lan, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Tourism Association, said the event would build on the success of the inaugural Vietnam Travel Day held in Quang Ninh province.

“The second Vietnam Travel Day in Gia Lai is expected to serve as a strategic bridge to promote trade, marketing and the development of new tourism products,” Lan said. “The event aims to facilitate cooperation agreements between Gia Lai travel businesses, localities and international partners, thereby strongly attracting foreign visitors to Vietnam”.

FLC Group, which has developed a tourism ecosystem over many years, said it was ready to work with local authorities and travel agencies from South Korea, Japan, China, India, Russia and ASEAN countries to create products tailored to individual markets.

The company is prioritizing linked itineraries between Gia Lai and Quy Nhon that combine resort stays, golf, MICE tourism, nature exploration and cultural experiences. The approach is intended to extend visitor stays and increase both travel experiences and spending.

Nguyen Thi Kim Chung, Deputy Director of the Gia Lai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said the province had expanded cooperation with domestic and international partners in recent years as part of efforts to diversify its tourism markets.

The department and the provincial Tourism Association have developed a range of tours, routes and signature products that capitalize on connections between mountainous and coastal ecosystems. Offerings include ecotourism combined with cultural experiences, community-based tourism, resorts, trekking, golf, wellness, agricultural tourism, MICE and cruise tourism.

Alongside improving existing products, Gia Lai is developing new tourism offerings based on its natural resources, cultural identity and community life. The province aims to build a professional and modern tourism sector centered on visitors, with natural resources and cultural heritage as its foundation and regional cooperation and international integration as key drivers of growth.

“The development space from the blue sea to the vast highlands of the province is wide open”, Chung said. “With this advantage, Gia Lai is well-positioned to build a destination brand with its own identity, harmoniously connecting the majestic nature of the highlands with the beauty of the sea”.

She said the combination could create a diverse destination catering to the experiential, resort and exploration trends of both domestic and international travelers.
