The Tien Son alluvial ground in Bien Ho commune has become a popular weekend destination for families, students and young people seeking outdoor recreation, fresh air and scenic views in Gia Lai Province.

The expansive grassland, formed from the lakebed connecting Bien Ho (T’Nung Lake) and Ia Nam Lake, becomes visible during the dry season when receding water levels reveal vast stretches of green fields.

Known locally as the “Tien Son goat field” or the “dry Bien Ho,” the area has gained popularity in recent years for its natural beauty, open landscape and tranquil atmosphere.

Every weekend, visitors gather on the alluvial plain to relax, picnic and enjoy the lakeside setting. The wide-open space and cool weather attract families looking for outdoor activities, while children run and play across the grasslands.

As evening approaches, colorful kites fill the sky above the field, creating a peaceful scene along the Bien Ho lakeside. The sound of children’s laughter blends with the afternoon breeze, contributing to the area’s lively yet relaxed atmosphere.

For many parents, the site offers an opportunity for children to spend time outdoors and experience traditional folk games away from electronic devices.

“On weekends, my family brings the kids here to play. The atmosphere is very pleasant and close to nature, so the children prefer running around outdoors rather than staying home on their phones,” said Nguyen Thien Phuoc, a resident of Pleiku ward. “I think places like this are very meaningful because they give kids more opportunities to experience and bond with family”.

Despite attracting large numbers of visitors on weekends, the area has maintained its natural tranquility, supported by a strong sense of environmental awareness among local residents and visitors.

The alluvial ground has also become a favored gathering place for young people seeking scenic backdrops for photographs and social activities. Students, in particular, are increasingly visiting the area during the annual yearbook photo season.

“The space here is so open and peaceful,” said Le Thi Huyen Trang, a 12th-grade student at Pham Van Dong High School in Ia Hrung commune. “Coming here with friends to take photos and enjoy the scenery helps me relieve stress before graduation exams and creates beautiful memories before leaving school.”

Nguyen Hong Hoa, a student at Le Van Tam Primary and Secondary School in Pleiku ward, said she was surprised by the location’s vibrant atmosphere and natural beauty.

“At first, I didn’t expect this place to be so lively and beautiful. Besides taking yearbook photos, I also enjoyed watching friends fly kites, which was really fun,” Hoa said.

The sight of kites soaring across the blue sky has become one of the defining images of Tien Son alluvial ground, evoking childhood memories and traditional recreational activities familiar to generations of local residents.

With its combination of natural scenery, family-friendly activities and community spirit, the seasonal grassland has evolved into a meaningful public space where residents can relax, connect and enjoy the outdoors in the heart of Vietnam’s Central Highlands.
