The People’s Committee of Gia Lai Province has approved a master plan to 2045 to develop Bien Ho Commune into a major eco-cultural tourism hub for both the province and Vietnam’s Central Highlands region.

The plan covers the commune’s entire natural area of approximately 170.53 square kilometres. Bien Ho’s population is projected to grow from about 40,983 in 2025 to 46,625 by 2035 and reach roughly 53,044 by 2045.

Under the blueprint, local authorities aim to build an advanced and sustainable rural model, combining economic restructuring with environmental protection. The plan prioritises the development of integrated technical and social infrastructure systems capable of adapting to climate change.

Bien Ho will be divided into four key development sub-regions. These include the Bien Ho-Chu Dang Ya national tourism core area; an urban and service development zone in the south and southeast; an agro-forestry ecological and landscape area in the west and northwest; and an eastern zone focused on organic agriculture and agri-tourism.

The commune is expected to serve multiple roles, including as a major eco-cultural tourism destination, a high-tech agricultural production centre for key commodities, a northern trade gateway for the province, and a conservation area for natural resources and biodiversity.

Provincial authorities have assigned the Bien Ho Commune People’s Committee to finalise planning documents, publicly disclose the plan, define boundaries, and establish an implementation roadmap. Relevant departments will oversee coordination, management and supervision to ensure compliance with regulations.
