The initiative aims to preserve and promote indigenous cultural values while creating fresh momentum for the commune’s tourism sector. Officials described the programme as an innovative approach that links heritage, spirituality and experiential travel.
Founded in 1802, Long Phuoc Pagoda has stood for more than 220 years and, despite multiple renovations, has maintained its rustic and solemn character. The pagoda remains closely intertwined with the spiritual life of the local community.
The site also holds an important place in the history of Binh Dinh traditional martial arts. It once served as a residence for martial arts master Van Thanh, also known as Nguyen Dong Hai, who studied and taught martial arts principles drawn from the text Luc Tuong Tang Vuong Pho Minh Binh Thu Chieu Phap.
Over generations, the pagoda has nurtured students both physically and spiritually. Many later emerged as notable figures in traditional martial arts, including Tran Duy Linh, Vo Van Tinh and Nguyen Duc Thang.
Beyond its historical and martial arts legacy, Long Phuoc Pagoda continues to serve as a spiritual anchor for residents, offering a tranquil and harmonious space imbued with humanistic values.
Local authorities expect the “Journey of martial arts and meditation” to become a new highlight in Tuy Phuoc, attracting visitors, supporting socio-economic growth and strengthening the area’s tourism profile in the coming years.
