The year-long programme is designated a major cultural, economic, social and tourism event of national and international importance, expected to drive comprehensive growth in Vietnam’s tourism sector and accelerate socio-economic development in Gia Lai province.

According to the proposal, the theme for the 2026 programme is “Gia Lai - Mountains embrace the sea.” The opening ceremony is scheduled for March 2026, with the closing ceremony planned for late December 2026.

Most key activities and flagship events will take place across Gia Lai province, including Quy Nhon, Pleiku and several core communes and wards earmarked for tourism development. Supporting events will be organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and by centrally governed provinces and cities, both in Gia Lai and in other localities nationwide.

The programme aims to highlight Vietnam’s tangible and intangible cultural assets, showcase local tourism resources and promote distinctive tourism products from Gia Lai and the wider country. Officials expect the event to unlock local resources, leverage the province’s unique strengths and create breakthroughs in tourism development.

Organisers say National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026 will help stimulate both domestic and international tourism markets, reinforce Vietnam’s position as a leading global destination and elevate Gia Lai as an emerging regional tourism hub.
