Vietnam Airlines flight VN1392, departing from Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, landed at Phu Cat Airport carrying 185 passengers on the first morning of the new year.
At the airport, representatives of the Gia Lai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Phu Cat Airport, Vietnam Airlines and the Gia Lai Tourism Association presented flowers and New Year greetings to passengers and flight crew.
According to Nguyen Thi Kim Chung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the annual welcoming ceremony reflects the hospitality of Gia Lai’s people and signals the launch of a series of activities for the National Tourism Year 2026.
She said the event aims to project Gia Lai as a dynamic, friendly and internationally connected destination, ready to welcome visitors from Vietnam and abroad. Chung described 2026 as a breakthrough year for local tourism, with new and diversified products ranging from cultural experiences to adventure and leisure tourism, particularly as the province hosts the National Tourism Year.
In 2025, Gia Lai recorded 12.4 million tourist arrivals, generating an estimated VND 29 trillion (about USD 1.16 billion) in tourism revenue. For 2026, the province targets 15 million visitors and revenue of VND 35 trillion (around USD 1.4 billion).
By stepping up tourism promotion from the start of the year and leveraging the National Tourism Year 2026, Gia Lai aims to stimulate demand, attract more visitors and strengthen its presence on both domestic and international tourism maps.
