Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee Pham Anh Tuan issued the directive while chairing a meeting of the Organizing Committee and the Standing Section on February 5.
The meeting reviewed progress on the implementation of the tourism year project, with participation from Vice Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Thanh Lịch and members of relevant committees.
According to Đỗ Thị Diệu Hạnh, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the province has coordinated with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism to advise the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on approving the organization plan under Decision No. 199/QĐ-BVHTTDL dated January 29, 2026.
The National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026 will comprise 234 activities, including 18 events led by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, 108 events organized by Gia Lai province, and dozens of additional activities held in response by provinces and cities nationwide.
To support implementation, the Provincial People’s Committee has issued decisions establishing the Organizing Committee, the Standing Committee and specialized working groups.
Promotional activities are underway, including Gia Lai’s participation in the Travex Tourism Fair in the Philippines, the ASEAN Tourism Forum, and the province’s reception of the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Award for Quy Nhơn, held from January 27-31.
Gia Lai has also organized Gia Lai Day in Hanoi, held a press conference on the National Tourism Year, and is participating in the first Spring Fair in Hanoi from February 2-13. Additionally, the province has signed a memorandum of understanding with Vietnam Airlines to promote the tourism year and strengthen brand development.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has submitted plans for the opening ceremony, key events and communication roadmap. A preliminary introduction video about Gia Lai and the National Tourism Year has also been completed.
Closing the meeting, Chairman Tuan stressed the need for meticulous preparations, particularly in communications for the opening and closing ceremonies and related reality TV shows, to ensure strong public engagement and maximize visitor attraction.
