Sources cited by Thanh Niên said the event will include a reception at the aircraft, the presentation of flowers and traditional Vietnamese cultural performances.

Organisers will also announce and present certificates and souvenirs to three special guests: the 19,999,999th, the 20,000,000th and the 20,000,001st international visitors. The programme is sponsored by Sun Group and Ngoc Hien Pearl.

The 20 millionth visitor will receive a prize valued at nearly VND 500 million (about USD 20,000), while the 19,999,999th and 20,000,001st guests will each receive gifts worth more than VND 200 million (about USD 8,000).

Reaching 20 million international arrivals is seen as a significant milestone, highlighting Vietnam’s growing appeal on the global tourism map. The figure reflects the country’s ability to attract visitors with its culture, natural landscapes, cuisine and increasingly professional tourism experiences, while underscoring the strong recovery of international travel in the post-pandemic period.

The milestone is also viewed as an important step as Vietnam’s tourism sector works towards its goal of welcoming 35 million international visitors by 2030, supporting ambitions to make tourism a key economic sector and enhance the national brand.
