The plan was confirmed by Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich, Vice Chairwoman of the Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee, during a meeting with relevant departments to finalize preparations for the annual festival.
Although the festival week officially runs from November 2 to 16, the main celebrations will take place over three weekends, blending vibrant performances, exhibitions, and community activities designed to promote Gia Lai’s scenic beauty during the wild sunflower season.
The festivities will open with the “Gia Lai City Trail – Dream of the Great Forest” race on November 2, setting the stage for a series of major events. Activities will fall into four main categories: cultural and artistic showcases, local cuisine and specialty exhibitions, promotional and media campaigns, and measures to ensure security and service quality.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has been tasked with leading the coordination and planning efforts to ensure the festival is safe, efficient, and culturally distinctive.
The department will collaborate with the Provincial Culinary Culture Association to create regional food spaces and feature local specialties, while the provincial Literature and Arts Association will host creative camps for painting, photography, and sculpture focused on the themes of Chu Dang Ya Volcano, wild sunflowers, and Gia Lai’s heritage.
A comprehensive media and communications plan will also be launched to raise awareness about environmental protection, landscape preservation, and the conservation of wild sunflowers, the signature symbol of the festival.
In addition, the Department of Industry and Trade will work with the Departments of Agriculture and Environment to organize an OCOP (One Commune One Product) showcase, featuring local goods and Gia Lai’s signature coffee, a symbol of the province’s tourism economy.
All provincial sectors have been instructed to coordinate on transportation, healthcare, food safety, and environmental sanitation to ensure a smooth and sustainable festival experience.
A major highlight of this year’s event will be the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Central Highlands Gong Culture Space’s recognition by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (November 25, 2005-November 25, 2025). The commemoration will honor and promote the region’s distinctive gong culture, reinforcing its status as a cultural treasure of Vietnam’s Central Highlands.
With its blend of tradition, art, and nature, the 2025 wild sunflower - Chu Dang Ya volcano Festival is expected to be a standout event, showcasing Gia Lai as “the land of golden wild sunflowers and resounding gongs” to both domestic and international audiences.
