The initiative reflects a growing role for social media users in building a civilized and safe digital environment, with local influencers using their platforms to share verified information, highlight community stories and connect people in need with support.
Among them is teacher Vũ Văn Tùng of Đinh Núp Primary and Secondary School in Pờ Tó commune, who uses social media to tell stories about students in disadvantaged areas.
Having worked for years in a region facing significant hardships, Tùng has witnessed the difficulties experienced by students and teachers and efforts to keep children in school. His posts about their lives have helped connect students with benefactors willing to provide support.
In 2021, Tùng launched the “Zero Dong Bread Cabinet” initiative. His social media posts attracted philanthropists to the project, which distributes about 200 servings of bread to students every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning.
The initiative has also supported 31 livelihood models for families of students in difficult circumstances and helped seven students obtain housing.
Over the past two years, Tùng has awarded the “Compassionate Support” scholarship to three high-achieving students, each receiving 2 million VND ($76) a month until graduating from high school.
Tùng said responsible content begins with verifying information before publication.
“Before posting or sharing, I always verify and clearly determine the accuracy and basis of the content,” he said.
Other local content creators are using social media to promote cultural understanding.
Phạm Quốc Anh of Phú Thiện commune, known as MC Quốc Anh Review, focuses on the culture and daily life of the Jrai people. Through visits to villages, he documents customs and traditions, including bride kidnapping, living with the wife’s family, wedding ceremonies and everyday activities.
“To tell the true story of a place, you must first understand it and respect its inherent values,” Quốc Anh said.
He added that he consults his Jrai wife, family members and local residents before checking official information in the media.
Phạm Văn Lộc of Đề Gi commune, known as Lộc Fuho, creates content about construction work, family and everyday life. His Facebook page has about 3 million followers.
Lộc said a larger audience brings greater responsibility, requiring him to carefully consider the potential impact of every image, video and post, particularly on young people and children.
The cooperation between online influencers and authorities was strengthened in September 2025 with the launch of the “Building Gia Lai’s Digital Space” model.
The initiative aims to strengthen cooperation between police and online influencers, turning pages, channels, groups and online communities into additional sources of support for a safer digital environment.
Under the model, provincial police provide information, issue warnings and receive reports from the community. KOLs, administrators and content creators help distribute official information in accessible formats and draw attention to emerging issues.
In May 2026, the model was formalized as the Gia Lai Digital Trust Club, which comprises five specialized committees.
When members detect suspicious information, they report it to the Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention Division of the provincial police for verification and, when necessary, warnings to the public.
After a year of operation, provincial police had worked with administrators to remove 41 pieces of potentially false information.
They also received 25 reports from KOLs and administrators about harmful or false content, which were subsequently verified and handled according to regulations.
Colonel Phan Thanh Sơn, head of the Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention Division and standing deputy head of the Gia Lai Digital Trust Club, said the unit and the club's executive board would continue maintaining a reliable coordination channel and strengthening the exchange and verification of information.
They will also increase training in legal matters, scam identification, personal data protection and account security, he said.
“Those with technological expertise should contribute clear and simple warnings; storytellers should highlight acts of kindness; community administrators should keep their spaces cleaner and safer,” Sơn said.
Colonel Nguyễn Ngọc Sơn, deputy director of the Provincial Police, called on KOLs, administrators and content creators to work together to “tell the truth” using verified information, “tell it well” through creative and relatable formats, and “tell it beautifully” with responsibility, compassion and respect for the community.
Through cooperation between authorities and the online community, Gia Lai is seeking to make individual users an active part of efforts to counter harmful information, promote positive values and build a safer, healthier and more trustworthy digital environment.
