‘Gia Lai smiles’ event brings Mid-Autumn cheer to children in Kon Chiêng

(GLO) – More than 750 children in Kon Chiêng commune received gifts, scholarships, and festive activities as part of the fifth “Gia Lai smiles” charity program, organized on Friday by the Gia Lai warm blood club in cooperation with local authorities and volunteer groups from Ho Chi Minh City.

The event, hosted by the Gia Lai provincial Red Cross’s warm blood club along with the Tam Dao charity group and Heart Journey Group, distributed gifts to 755 children aged 0–14 across the villages of Đak Ô, Git, Ktu, Deng Cỡ, and KLah.

Twenty disadvantaged students were awarded “Supporting your journey to school” scholarships, each comprising cash of 500,000 VND (about USD 20), 10 notebooks, school supplies, and a backpack.

Six students also received bicycles, while 20 underprivileged households were provided with aid packages including 10 kg of rice, a box of instant noodles, and bottles of soy and fish sauce.

Children were treated to a communal lunch valued at 11.5 million VND (about USD 460), featuring sausages, shrimp, beef balls, French fries, milk tea, and sweets. The program also staged traditional games with prizes, music, clothing booths, and a lion dance during the “full moon festival night.”

Organizers said the event not only supported children’s education and well-being but also fostered volunteerism, connecting donors and community groups.

The total value of contributions, gifts, and services reached 80 million VND (about USD 3,200).
