From early morning yoga sessions to park aerobics and mountain climbing, many women say the routines have become essential for both physical and emotional well-being.
“At first, I only practiced by following online videos, so I often gave up,” said Le Thi Kim Loan, 46, of Quy Nhon Dong Ward, who now trains at the Nataraj Yoga Quy Nhon Center.
“Since joining the center, I feel much more connected. Not only is my body healthier, but I’ve also found companions to practice and laugh with every morning”, she added.
For Nguyen Thi Cuc, 67, yoga helps relieve joint pain and loneliness. “Having friends to practice with makes me feel less lonely, always cheerful, and mentally relaxed”, she said.
Beyond yoga, women join aerobic clubs, mountain hikes, and informal gatherings. Nguyen Ngoc Tu has spent 10 years exercising with an aerobic club at a local park, while Le Thi My Tam, 53, balances business and family life by climbing mountains and exchanging parenting experiences with peers.
In rural areas, the Women’s Union organizes exercise groups, vegetable gardens, and charity events. Ho Thi My, 30, from Tuy Phuoc Dong Commune, said small gatherings and online communities help her learn new skills and gain confidence.
Instructors note rising participation. Gautam Chawla, a yoga teacher at Nataraj, said women of all ages are drawn to the discipline for its physical and mental benefits.
Nguyen Thi Thao Ly, an aerobics instructor, said she hopes such spaces remain places where women find joy and self-expression.
