Gia Lai Province launches long-term healthcare development plan for 2026 - 2030

(GLO) – Gia Lai Province has unveiled a comprehensive plan to develop its healthcare system over the 2026–2030 period, with a vision extending to 2045, officials confirmed at a provincial health conference on August 29.

Healthcare review and current statistics

The conference, attended by Deputy Directors of the Department of Health, department leaders, and representatives from hospitals across western Gia Lai, reviewed healthcare activities for August 2025 and outlined priorities for the coming months.

Health authorities reported over 1,500 dengue fever cases this year, a drop of 1,370 cases compared to the same period in 2024, with no deaths. Hand, foot, and mouth disease cases also fell to more than 500, down 94 cases year-on-year, with no fatalities.

In contrast, suspected measles cases surged, reaching 4,118, including one death, with 597 confirmed positive.

Screening programs detected 13 new HIV cases, bringing the total to 89 this year, with three AIDS-related deaths. Currently, about 1,200 people living with HIV/AIDS are being monitored across the province.

The province’s expanded immunization program has achieved a 54.2% full vaccination rate among children under one year old. No cases of food poisoning or malaria were reported in August, and medical services have continued uninterrupted, with sufficient medicines, supplies, and equipment.

Key directives and future plans

Dr. Le Quang Hung, Director of Gia Lai Department of Health, emphasized completing the rollout of electronic medical records in western Gia Lai by the end of September 2025.

He called on all units to advance the healthcare development plan for 2026-2030 and maintain high standards in disease prevention, medical treatment, and food safety, particularly during the National Day holiday (September 2).

Authorities also highlighted the importance of improving management capacity, strengthening the provincial healthcare workforce, and enhancing patient satisfaction through improved service quality and public surveys.

Units are instructed to maintain and enhance outcomes from the Health and Population Target Program and other health initiatives while ensuring compliance with medical regulations.
