The initiative, organised by the Gia Lai Association for the support of poor patients in coordination with the hospital’s Board of Directors, forms part of activities marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2.

Located at the hospital’s Nutrition Department, the charity kitchen was established through contributions from donors to support underprivileged patients with daily meals.
At the inauguration ceremony, organisations and benefactors pledged a total of 130 million VND (US$5,100), including 40 million VND for kitchen equipment, two tonnes of rice worth 30 million VND, and a 60 million VND reserve fund under the “Keeping the kitchen warm” programme.

The association also presented 10 gift packages to impoverished patients currently under treatment. Each package contained goods worth 100,000 VND, 400,000 VND in cash, and a blanket.
On its first day of operation, the kitchen prepared and distributed 250 free meals to patients in need.

During the same event, the Gia Lai Association for the support of poor patients announced the establishment of the Gia Lai General Hospital Chapter, comprising 39 members with a five-member executive committee.
Dr Nguyễn Thành Công, Deputy Director of Gia Lai General Hospital, was appointed chapter president. The committee will oversee activities in line with the association’s regulations.
