A community running event commemorating the Hung Kings will take place in An Phú Ward on April 25, as local authorities seek to promote cultural heritage and community engagement.

Organised by the ward’s People’s Committee, the event, titled “Steadfast Steps to the Future - An Phú 2026” and themed “Every Step, a Heartfelt Tribute,” is expected to draw around 300 participants competing in 5km and 10km races.

Both races will start and finish at the entrance of Dong Xanh Cultural Park, with runners following the eastern bypass route towards Ham Rong intersection in Hoi Phu Ward.

The programme will also include a flower and incense offering ceremony at the Hung Temple and Dong Xanh Cultural Park, held in tribute to the Hung Kings and their role in the nation’s founding.

Alongside the race, organisers plan to install 20 booths in front of the park to showcase traditional culture and promote products under the “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) programme.

A series of folk games, including sack races, blindfolded pot breaking and slow cycling, will be held for students, young people and visitors, contributing to a festive atmosphere.

The event is intended to reinforce the Vietnamese tradition of remembering one’s origins, while promoting patriotism, national pride and cultural preservation, as well as supporting National Tourism Year—Gia Lai 2026.
