APC Gia Lai students win gold and silver at AIMO 2026 int’l finals

Two students from Asia Pacific International School Gia Lai (APC Gia Lai) have earned gold and silver medals at the international finals of the Asia International Mathematical Olympiad (AIMO) 2026, adding to Gia Lai province's growing record of international academic success.

Trần Hữu Nguyên, a student in class 8A1, won the gold medal, while Nguyễn Lam Ngọc from class 9A2 received the silver medal.

The AIMO 2026 international finals were held in Hanoi from Aug. 1 to 4, attracting around 1,300 contestants from 22 countries and territories. The event marked the first time the competition's international finals had been hosted in Vietnam.

At this year's finals, the Vietnamese team collected 205 awards, comprising one championship title, four first runner-up prizes, three second runner-up prizes, 42 gold medals, 83 silver medals, 70 bronze medals and two consolation prizes.

The performances of Trần Hữu Nguyên and Nguyễn Lam Ngọc not only brought recognition to APC Gia Lai but also strengthened Gia Lai province's record of achievement in international academic competitions.
