Under the motto “Every union member and worker celebrates Tet and enjoys Tet,” activities have been implemented across the province, focusing on grassroots levels and directly benefiting workers engaged in production. Beyond material assistance, the programmes promote solidarity, protect workers’ rights and foster a festive spirit ahead of the Year of the Horse.

At the Provincial Labor Cultural House in Diên Hồng Ward, 70 contestants from 10 teams representing trade unions in Pleiku, Thống Nhất, Diên Hồng, An Phú, Ayun Pa and An Khê wards took part in the “Skillful Union Members – Preserving the Spirit of Tet” contest.

Teams prepared and displayed traditional Tet cakes and sweets, decorated five-fruit trays and wrote calligraphy celebrating the Party, Spring, the homeland, the country, President Ho Chi Minh and the Trade Union organisation. Each team designed its own cultural display space, creating traditional “Tet corners” that reflected Vietnamese identity and strengthened collegial bonds.

“The contest and Tet activities are an opportunity for union members to bond after a year of hard work,” said Huỳnh Thị Thanh Hoa, Chairwoman of the grassroots Trade Union of Gia Lai Education Printing and Investment Development Joint Stock Company. “Entering the Year of the Horse 2026, workers hope for more job opportunities, stable incomes and continued support from the Trade Union”.

Also at the venue, the “Tet Reunion – Spring of Gratitude to the Party” programme presented 120 Tet gifts worth VND 700,000 (about USD 28) each to workers in difficult circumstances. A further 45 cases involving serious illness, occupational accidents or work-related diseases received support of VND 2 million (about USD 80) per person.

Nguyễn Thị Thùy Dung, a union member at Gia Lai Paper Joint Stock Company, said the timely support would help her family better prepare for the New Year.

Tet care activities for 2026 have been widely rolled out, prioritising frontline workers and those facing hardship, including victims of occupational accidents, serious illness, job loss, wage arrears or those unable to return home for many years. This year’s initiatives are also linked to celebrating the success of the 14th National Party Congress, encouraging a spirit of emulation among workers and officials.

Lê Trung Chính, Chairman of the An Phú Ward Trade Union, said grassroots unions had reviewed cases of serious illness and difficult family circumstances to propose support from the provincial Labor Federation. They also coordinated with the Fatherland Front and socio-political organisations to mobilise additional resources and conduct home visits, aiming to ensure every union member enjoys a warm Tet.

In Phù Cát commune, the provincial Labor Federation, in coordination with Phù Cát Garment Joint Stock Company, organised a “Trade Union Year-End Meal” for 700 union members and workers. The event strengthened ties between employees and the company while offering a forum for workers to share their views and aspirations after a year of production.

Large-scale support programmes are continuing across the province. About 4,080 union members in difficult circumstances or with outstanding achievements have received vouchers worth VND 500,000 (about USD 20) under the online “Trade Union Tet Market” initiative to purchase essential goods.

The “Trade Union Bus – Spring 2026” programme is providing free transport for union members and their families to return home for Tet. Meanwhile, the “Tet Away from Home” initiative ensures that those working through the holiday can still celebrate in a warm atmosphere at their workplace.

Lê Thị Thúy Kiều, a worker at Nafoods Tây Nguyên Joint Stock Company, said union support had helped her buy bus tickets to return to her hometown in Hưng Yên each Tet over the past three years.

Alongside material and spiritual assistance, trade unions have strengthened oversight and protection of workers’ rights, engaging in dialogue with employers on wage and Tet bonus plans and working to prevent wage arrears or labour disputes at year-end. Monitoring workers’ concerns before, during and after Tet has been identified as a key task to maintain stable labour relations, security and business operations.

Nguyễn Thị Thanh Thủy, Vice Chairwoman of the Gia Lai Provincial Labor Federation, said grassroots unions had been directed to proactively allocate funds and mobilise additional resources to support members, while closely monitoring wage payments, bonuses and social insurance to safeguard workers’ rights.

With comprehensive preparation and coordinated action, Gia Lai’s 2026 Tet care activities are reinforcing the humanitarian role of the Trade Union organisation, helping ensure that every worker — especially those in difficult circumstances — can welcome the Lunar New Year in warmth and dignity.
