Gia Lai, Viettel sign digital transformation agreement for 2025-2030

(GLO) – The People’s Committee of Gia Lai province and the Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel) on Thursday signed a cooperation agreement on digital transformation for the 2025-2030 period.

The cooperation agreement aims at boosting infrastructure, governance, and socio-economic development in the Central Highlands province.

The signing ceremony was attended by Pham Anh Tuan, the provincial Chairman; Lam Hai Giang, the provincial Vice Chairman; Colonel Cao Anh Son, Deputy General Director of Viettel.

During the 2023-2025 phase, the partnership between Gia Lai and Viettel delivered extensive results.

Viettel achieved 4G coverage for 99.21% of the province’s population, 2G coverage for 99.56% and installed 72 5G stations in central areas.

Fiber optic infrastructure now reaches 100% of communes, ensuring universal broadband Internet access.

In digital government, solutions such as paperless meeting software, electronic portals, digital signatures, and surveillance systems have been deployed, improving management and operations.

For the digital society, Viettel provided free Internet services to 439 schools, introduced electronic report cards in primary schools, and enabled digital signatures for 6,500 teachers.

In economic transformation, the “market 4.0” model has expanded to 45 central markets.

Viettel also promoted its Viettel Money ecosystem and issued more than 38.8 million electronic invoices for local businesses.

The company further supported cybersecurity measures to create a safe digital environment.

At the ceremony, Chairman Pham Anh Tuan highlighted the achievements and urged Viettel to help Gia Lai implement the Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo effectively.

He called on Viettel to expand 5G coverage in economically developed and border areas, prioritize platforms in healthcare and education, and transfer new digital tools to communes and wards in line with national standards.

The new agreement outlines cooperation in raising public awareness of science and innovation, upgrading telecommunications and IT infrastructure, training human resources, developing digital government, economy, and society, supporting businesses in adopting digital technology, promoting digital culture, ensuring cybersecurity, and commercializing new products.

Both sides will establish a joint working group to oversee implementation. Provincial leaders expressed confidence that Viettel’s resources and expertise will help Gia Lai unlock its potential and meet socio-economic development goals through digital transformation.
