Quy Nhơn–Pleiku expressway
The expressway will stretch 125 kilometers across 17 communes and wards in Gia Lai, with four lanes, a roadbed width of 24.75 meters, and a design speed of 100 km/h.
Total investment is estimated at VND 43,734 billion (USD 1.75 billion), funded by the state budget and provincial contributions.

The project requires about 942 hectares of land, including nearly 325 hectares of forest. Compensation, support, and resettlement are expected to cost VND 4,715 billion (USD 189 million), with Gia Lai committing VND 1,250 billion (USD 50 million) from its own budget and other lawful sources.

Local authorities have set up commune-level committees to oversee compensation and resettlement, but unresolved legal procedures at the central level have delayed the groundbreaking.
Adjustments to the route and construction of two special-grade tunnels at An Khê and Mang Yang will also require additional seismic surveys and government consultations.

North–South high-speed railway
The high-speed railway section through Gia Lai will run 115.7 kilometers across 18 communes and wards, requiring about 758 hectares of land. The project includes two stations, at Bồng Sơn and Diêu Trì.
Compensation and site clearance for the section are estimated at VND 6,410 billion (USD 257 million). Gia Lai plans to build 38 resettlement areas, 6 reburial sites, and 10 soil mines, with 37 resettlement areas already identified.

Provincial leaders have directed affected localities to establish site clearance councils and accelerate compensation work. Four soil mines have also been proposed for resettlement leveling.
Calls for consensus and support
Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Rah Lan Chung stressed the need for timely compensation and urged the provincial government to increase staff support for localities struggling with clearance.

Provincial Chairman Phạm Anh Tuấn said preparations were largely complete but legal obstacles remain at the central level.
He highlighted compensation pricing as the biggest challenge, adding that households would receive vocational training and job placement support to secure livelihoods.

Secretary Hồ Quốc Dũng concluded that the two projects would “open new development opportunities” for Gia Lai and urged localities to speed up compensation and resettlement.

He emphasized that resettlement land must be affordable and accessible to prevent public grievances, while ensuring state policies are implemented to safeguard residents’ living conditions.
