The establishment of the Association’s first Executive Committee comes as Gia Lai province enters a new development phase following administrative reorganization, increasing demand for geographic research, resource management, environmental protection, education, and sustainable development.

Formed during the 2021–2025 period as the Bình Định Geography Association before its transition to Gia Lai, the organization has expanded from 23 to 68 members, including university lecturers, high school teachers, scientific and technical staff, and officials from various sectors. Its Executive Committee now consists of nine members, supported by three specialized sub-associations and several functional committees.

During the previous term, members completed 26 scientific research projects at multiple levels, including one national-level study, four ministerial-level projects, and four provincial-level projects; seven additional projects remain underway. Members published about 150 scientific articles, more than 20 in international journals, and supervised two doctoral dissertations and over 45 master’s theses.

In education and training, four members earned PhDs, one became an Associate Professor, and 16 obtained master’s degrees. Among high school educators, 17 were recognized as excellent teachers at various levels and trained more than 50 outstanding Geography students for provincial and national competitions between 2020 and 2025.

The Association also undertook dozens of consultancy and social-criticism assignments, contributing expertise to planning, environmental impact assessments, and socio-economic development projects across the Central and Central Highlands regions.

Delegates approved the Association’s orientation for 2025–2030, targeting an expansion to 100–120 members, promoting scientific research and geospatial technology, strengthening consultancy activities, and broadening domestic and international cooperation to support Gia Lai’s sustainable development.

The Congress also elected the nine-member executive committee for the 2025–2030 term.
