Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyễn Thị Thanh Lịch received a delegation led by Silvia Danailov, UNICEF Representative in Vietnam, in Pleiku Ward, where both sides reviewed ongoing cooperation and explored priorities for future collaboration.
Danailov thanked Gia Lai authorities for their continued support and cooperation in implementing UNICEF-supported programs and projects in the province. She expressed hope that the partnership would continue to deepen in the coming years.
During the meeting, Danailov and provincial officials discussed administrative reform, safeguarding the rights and interests of ethnic minorities and vulnerable groups following the provincial merger and the implementation of the two-tier local government model, as well as efforts to institutionalize UNICEF-supported models and projects while mobilizing local financial resources.
The UNICEF representative also highlighted the organization's interest in expanding cooperation with Gia Lai to support vulnerable populations, particularly children. She stressed the importance of helping adolescents navigate educational transitions, employment challenges and mental health issues.
Lịch welcomed the UNICEF delegation and thanked the organization for its continued attention to Gia Lai. She also briefed the delegation on the province's current situation and exchanged views on the issues raised during the discussions.
Regarding the Child-Friendly Project, Lịch said Gia Lai is implementing the third phase of the initiative for the 2022–2026 period with support from UNICEF and the Government of Vietnam.
She praised the project's benefits and positive impact on local communities, while expressing gratitude for UNICEF's allocation of resources to the province, including emergency assistance provided to support recovery efforts following damage caused by storm No. 13 at the end of 2025.
The vice chairwoman said Gia Lai hopes to continue working with UNICEF on future initiatives related to child care and protection, healthcare, bilingual education, vocational training, job creation and the preservation of local culture.
She added that successful implementation of development programs and projects requires careful research to ensure that initiatives are compatible with local customs, traditions and cultural practices.
