Gia Lai and the northeastern Cambodian provinces have intensified ties through delegation exchanges, joint agreements, and coordinated border management.
Trade turnover via the Lệ Thanh-Oyadav international border gate reached USD 202 million in 2024, with USD 118 million recorded in the first five months of 2025. Gia Lai enterprises currently run 19 projects in Cambodia with registered capital of more than USD 913 million.
Both sides highlighted the role of border forces in maintaining stability and resolving incidents in line with bilateral agreements, ensuring a peaceful and cooperative environment.

Gia Lai also thanked Cambodian authorities for assisting its K52 team in recovering and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia during wartime.
Cambodian leaders hailed the results of cooperation, noting its impact on economic growth, defense and improved livelihoods, while expressing confidence in Vietnam’s continued development. They pledged to further expand joint activities in investment, trade and cultural exchange.

Gia Lai’s Vice Chairman Nguyễn Tuấn Anh urged closer coordination in border demarcation and marker planting, simplified administrative procedures at Lệ Thanh-Oyadav and greater cultural exchange.
He also announced plans to develop the border gate into a digital and smart economic zone, applying modern technologies for improved management.
Both sides agreed to fully implement existing cooperation agreements, draft new memoranda of understanding for the 2026-2030 period and deepen ties under the principle of “good neighbors, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability.”
