The club was inaugurated by the Gia Lai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the People’s Committee of Chư Păh Commune. It brings together 45 members from Krài Village, where ethnic Jrai people make up about 80% of the population of 1,010 residents across 188 households.
Mr. Rơ Châm Vang was appointed as head of the gong team. The club will organize regular meetings and practice sessions, with a focus on passing on gong performance and xoang dance traditions to younger generations in the village.
Speaking at the ceremony, Lê Thị Thu Hương, Deputy Director of the Gia Lai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said the Krài Village Gong Club is the sixth gong club established by state authorities in the province.
She said the initiative forms part of the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for 2025, supporting efforts to safeguard the Central Highlands Gong Cultural Space heritage.
At the launch, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented the club with a set of Jrai gongs, a T’rưng xylophone, a portable sound system, and financial support for training activities.
