Vietnam Fatherland Front in Gia Lai honors 276 role models

(GLO) – The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of Gia Lai province honored 276 outstanding individuals and agencies at its first role model conference for the 2025 -2030 period, recognizing their dynamism, creativity, and community service.

The event gathered key provincial leaders, including Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the VFF Committee Nguyễn Ngọc Lương, along with senior representatives from the People’s Council, People’s Committee, National Assembly delegation, and mass organizations.

During the 2020 - 2025 term, the VFF and its affiliates launched and implemented 5,813 grassroots models across Gia Lai, promoting social initiatives that reduced poverty, improved infrastructure, and strengthened solidarity.

In Nhơn Châu island commune, 17 “great solidarity” houses and shelters were built through 1.64 billion VND (US$64,900) in community donations, helping eliminate poverty by 2024.

Additional funds of 131 million VND (US$5,200) supported education, start-up capital and Tet gifts for disadvantaged households.

Across the province, the VFF mobilized 1.327 trillion VND (US$52.6 million) for relief and welfare funds, financing the construction and repair of 3,926 houses worth 158 billion VND (US$6.27 million) and providing over 28 billion VND (US$1.11 million) in livelihood support for nearly 5,700 households.

The “new rural areas” program drew contributions of 1.132 trillion VND (US$44.9 million), 1.38 million square meters of donated land, and 423,000 workdays to build roads and public facilities.

The Women’s Union of Hội Phú ward alone mobilized 10.34 billion VND (US$410,000) to construct or maintain 46 alleyways.

Campaigns to change mindsets among ethnic minorities lifted 10,609 households out of poverty, while mediation teams resolved 11,902 community disputes.

Leaders emphasized that persuasion and role models at the grassroots level were key to sustaining progress.

Standing Vice Chairman Trần Minh Sơn urged organizations to innovate, avoid formality, and ensure recognition is transparent, timely, and effective. Ward-level leaders pledged to link emulation with digital literacy, fostering both social and economic growth.

At the conference, the VFF launched its 2025-2030 patriotic emulation and commendation movement, aiming to expand social participation, strengthen national unity, and integrate digital transformation into grassroots governance. Goals include:

*Ensuring all commune-level VFF Committees and residential Front Committees run at least one community development project.

*Establishing self-management models in 50% of residential areas.

*Implementing the “United, Prosperous, and Happy Residential Area” model across all communes and wards.

*Advancing “Digital Mass Literacy” to build digital citizenship.

*Developing 3–5 exemplary grassroots models annually in every locality.
