Gia Lai Province strengthens campaign promoting Vietnamese-made goods
Mr. Nguyễn Đình Kha – Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade is intensifying the national campaign “Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods.”

Gia Lai Broadcasting and Newspaper spoke with Mr. Nguyễn Đình Kha, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, about strategies to promote pride in Vietnamese products, raise public awareness, and stimulate sustainable economic growth.

*The Provincial People’s Committee has just issued Plan No. 91/KH-UBND to develop the domestic market, stimulate consumption, and promote the campaign for 2025–2027. Could you highlight the main points of this plan?

The plan’s core objective is to drive a significant shift in consumer behavior, encouraging people to prioritizehigh-quality Vietnamese products. It also aims to support local enterprises in strengthening production capacity, expanding markets, and building a modern, sustainable commercial sector.

In 2025, the province targets a 10.5%-11% increase in total retail sales and consumer service revenue, ensuring a stable supply of essential goods and preventing shortages or unreasonable price hikes, especially during the Lunar New Year. Communication campaigns are expected to reach at least 500,000 consumers, while around 500 businesses will receive support through trade promotion and sales incentive programs.

During 2026-2027, the province will focus on building modern commercial infrastructure with strong local identity, establishing new retail models, and promoting digital transformation through initiatives such as “smart markets,” “online Vietnamese goods stalls,” and digitalized logistics. The long-term goal is to position the province as a leading commercial and service hub for Vietnam’s Central Highlands and South Central Coast regions.

*What key solutions will the Department of Industry and Trade prioritize to achieve these goals?

The foremost priority is trade promotion and consumer stimulus. In 2025, the Department will host a series of events aligned with the “Vietnamese People Use Vietnamese Products” campaign to reinforce pride in local goods and emphasize their quality.

Activities will include the Vietnam Shopping Festival, the National Promotion Program, and Vietnamese goods fairs in rural and mountainous areas to bring domestic products closer to consumers.

The Department will also coordinate with relevant sectors to assist businesses in accessing preferential loans, tax incentives, and credit policies, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Retail expansion into remote, border, and disadvantaged areas will be encouraged, with designated spaces for OCOP and key local products.

A crucial focus is maintaining stable supply chains and promoting green, sustainable production. The province will develop core local industries such as coffee, pepper, rubber, sugarcane, fruits, and vegetables, while establishing a flexible logistics network and stockpiling goods for the Lunar New Year and storm seasons to stabilize prices.

Additionally, supply-demand connectivity and consumer protection will be reinforced. The Department will link producers, distributors, and consumers in rural and remote regions, while the Market Surveillance force intensifies inspections to prevent counterfeit or substandard products and safeguard consumer rights.

*The province’s orientation for 2026–2027 is to develop a modern market linked with digital transformation and local identity. Could you elaborate on specific steps planned for the near future?

- The 2026-2027 period will be pivotal for advancing a modern, sustainable market ecosystem. The province will first enhance the institutional framework to create a level playing field for businesses. The Department of Industry and Trade will advise the Provincial People’s Committee to review and update regulations governing markets, supermarkets, trade centers, logistics, and e-commerce, ensuring smooth goods circulation and support for agricultural and OCOP product consumption.

Gia Lai aims to integrate e-commerce with traditional markets, supermarkets, and logistics networks. The province plans to renovate wholesale agricultural markets, develop “smart market” models and “mini supermarkets in highland areas”, and launch local e-commerce platforms to expand access to Vietnamese goods.

Digital transformation is regarded as a key growth driver. Businesses are encouraged to adopt technologies for retail management, product traceability via QR codes, cashless payments, and warehouse and customer data systems. The Department also plans to organize seminars and events connecting technology firms with agriculture, processing, and tourism sectors to foster innovative digital solutions.
