Gia Lai Province’s Department of Science and Technology held a conference on Monday to disseminate the amended Law on Standards and Technical Regulations and the Law on Product and Goods Quality, both of which will take effect on January 1, 2026.

These two laws were passed by the 15th National Assembly in June 2025 and will officially take effect from January 1, 2026.

At the event, experts presented key updates and revisions to the two laws, aimed at strengthening the legal framework governing standards, technical regulations, and product quality management. The session helped local officials and businesses understand the new regulations designed to enhance management efficiency, production, and trade operations.

Addressing the conference, Phan Ngoc Anh, Head of the Sub-Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality, said that after more than 15 years in force, the existing laws have shown limitations and failed to meet the demands of deep international economic integration.

The changes are particularly crucial as Vietnam engages in new-generation free trade agreements (FTAs) such as the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), while also transitioning toward a digital economy and the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0).

Mr. Phan Ngoc Anh emphasized that the amendments are essential to harmonize Vietnam’s legal framework with international standards, address existing bottlenecks, and promote smoother production and business activities.
