The organizing committee of the Gia Lai City Trail 2026 has unveiled the official race routes ahead of bib registration opening on March 12, outlining five distances designed to take runners through the landscapes and cultural setting of Vietnam’s Central Highlands.

The event will feature routes of 6 km, 12 km, 30 km, 50 km and 70 km, each representing a stage in a runner’s journey of endurance and personal development.

Organizers say the course has been designed as a journey of discovery through the region’s natural terrain and cultural identity.

The 6 km distance, named “Green Sprout,” represents the beginning of a runner’s path, introducing participants to the mountainous terrain. The 12 km route, called “Through the Forest,” encourages runners to step beyond their comfort zones and enter the wilderness.

Longer distances raise the physical challenge. The 30 km “Conquer the Mountain” course features steep climbs designed to test determination, while the 50 km “Sacred Fire” distance symbolizes endurance and unity, drawing on the cultural image of fire as a gathering point for Central Highlands communities during festive nights.

12 km distance – "Through the Forest".

The longest distance, the 70 km “Warrior of the Great Forest,” is designed as the ultimate test, pushing runners to their limits.

Along the route, athletes will traverse eight mountains: Chư Me, Chư Tưn Keo, Chư Krang, Tâu La, Lar, Chư Đang Ya, Chư Nâm and Lơr.

Organizers say the race, part of the National Tourism Year program, is expected to become a major sports and tourism event, promoting the natural landscapes and cultural identity of Gia Lai to both domestic and international visitors.

The Gia Lai City Trail 2026 will take place over three days from October 30 to November 1, with the main race scheduled for November 1. Official bib registration opens at 12 p.m. on March 12.
