The tournament, held from February 25 to March 2, brought together nearly 700 coaches and athletes from 20 provinces, organisations and clubs. Competitors faced off in chess and xiangqi across standard, rapid and blitz disciplines, with age categories ranging from 6 to 15.
Gia Lai sent 38 athletes, including 25 from its Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and 13 from the Sao Viet Gia Lai Club. Most competed with confidence and consistency, overcoming strong rivals in key rounds to secure top finishes.
By the end of the championship, the provincial delegation earned 25 gold, 11 silver and 25 bronze medals. Standout performers included Trần Tuệ Mẫn with three golds in the U8 group; Nguyễn Lê An Khương with three golds in U10; Trương Gia Hân with three golds in U14 girls; Huỳnh Châu Bảo Lâm with three golds in U14 boys; and Trần Nhật Minh, who took two golds and one silver in U18 boys.
The Sao Viet Gia Lai Club, representing Sao Viet Primary, Secondary and High School in Pleiku Ward, added three gold and seven bronze medals in both chess and xiangqi categories.
Among its top performers, Hoàng Tấn Vinh claimed one individual gold and five team bronze medals in the standard discipline, along with one gold in the U13 rapid advanced group and a team gold in U13 rapid.
