Gia Lai sends 8 players to 2026 Vietnam Xiangqi Federation Cup and national championship

Gia Lai has entered the 2026 Vietnam Xiangqi Federation Cup Championship and National Team Xiangqi Championship with a delegation comprising one coach and eight players, as nearly 180 athletes from 15 teams compete in the national tournament in northern Thai Nguyen province.

The championships are being held from July 13 to July 22, featuring competition across four formats: standard, rapid, blitz and super blitz xiangqi.

Athletes will contest a wide range of events, including men's and women's team competitions, men's pair, mixed team, traditional men's and women's team events, traditional men's pair, traditional mixed team, as well as men's and women's individual and traditional individual categories.

Under the tournament regulations, standard xiangqi games are played with 60 minutes per player, plus a 30-second increment from the first move. Rapid games use a time control of 10 minutes with a five-second increment per move, while blitz is played with three minutes plus three seconds per move. Super blitz allows one minute per player, with an additional two seconds per move.

For the Gia Lai squad, the competition offers an opportunity to gain experience against some of the country's strongest xiangqi teams, including those from Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Dong Nai, Quang Ninh and host province Thai Nguyen.
