The competition, organized by the Gia Lai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, formed part of activities marking the opening of the “Gia Lai Welcomes Summer 2026” Tourism Festival.
A launch run preceding the championship attracted more than 1,000 participants, including government officials, civil servants, members of the armed forces, youth union members, students and martial arts trainees.
Organizers said the event was intended to encourage physical fitness, improve public health and promote unity and development across the province.
The championship itself brought together 108 athletes representing 24 communes and wards. Competitors contested men’s and women’s individual races, team events and overall standings. Male athletes competed over a distance of 7 km, while female athletes raced 5 km.
Quách Thị Thùy Trang of Biển Hồ Commune claimed the women’s individual title, while Lê Trọng Khang of Kbang Commune won the men’s individual competition.
In the team events, Quy Nhon Ward finished first in the women’s category, while Pleiku Ward topped the men’s team standings.
Pleiku Ward also emerged as the overall champion. Quy Nhon Ward placed second, while Kbang Commune and Quy Nhon Nam Ward shared third place overall.
Organizers said the competition served as an opportunity to evaluate grassroots sports development across localities while promoting running as a means of improving community health and encouraging an active, healthy lifestyle.
