Nguyễn Gia Hân, a 10th-grade student at Chi Lăng High School in Hội Phú Ward, and Nguyễn Thảo Dương, a student at Quốc Piano Center in the same ward, both received the A Prize, equivalent to a gold medal.
The achievement marked the second consecutive year that Thảo Dương has won a gold medal at the National Piano Festival. She was also among 10 contestants honored as “Highlands Stars” at this year’s event.
The 2026 festival, themed “The Sound of the Great Highlands Piano,” was organized in collaboration with the Vietnam Musicians’ Association.
More than 1,300 contestants took part in the preliminary round, with the Organizing Committee selecting 836 participants from 20 provinces and cities for the finals.
Gia Lai was strongly represented by contestants from music centers and piano classes across the province, with several winning silver and bronze medals.
Sol Piano Pleiku won one silver and three bronze medals, while Duy Piano Chư Sê music class secured one silver and four bronze medals. Diễm Lê Piano Class and Tịnh Music Class each received one silver and two bronze medals.
In addition to Thảo Dương’s gold medal, Quốc Piano Center had two other students win silver medals and another take bronze.
The National Piano Festival provides a platform for students, teachers and piano enthusiasts to perform, connect and exchange experiences, while giving young musicians an opportunity to demonstrate their technical and performance skills.
Gia Lai contestants’ results at this year’s festival also reflect the growing interest in piano study and performance across the province.
