The 2026 program is being organized by the Bình Phú Commune People’s Committee in coordination with the Gia Lai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The event will feature a range of activities centered on the Bahnar cultural identity, including experiences in the gong cultural space, traditional Bahnar cuisine, local OCOP products and traditional handicrafts. Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore the potential of community-based tourism in Vĩnh An Village.
According to Đặng Bảo Toàn, Standing Vice Chairman of the Bình Phú Commune People’s Committee, Vĩnh An has preserved a range of traditional Bahnar cultural values, including gong culture, brocade weaving, folk arts, traditional cuisine, indigenous knowledge and distinctive community lifestyles.
“These are invaluable cultural resources” that can help the locality develop distinctive, in-depth and sustainable tourism products, Toàn said.
The Action Program implementing the Resolution of the First Party Congress of Bình Phú Commune for the 2025-2030 term identifies tourism development as more than simply exploiting local resources.
It emphasizes heritage preservation, protection of cultural identity, environmental conservation and the creation of stable and sustainable livelihoods for local residents.
Through the “Weekend Gong Night - Enjoy and Experience” program, local authorities hope to gradually build community awareness and encourage residents to participate in developing community-based tourism.
Toàn said the initiative would also provide a foundation for Bình Phú Commune to maintain and organize similar cultural and tourism activities in the future.
