Within just three days, several tons of essential goods and supplies have been gathered for delivery to the worst-affected areas.
As of October 4, typhoon Bualoi and subsequent natural disasters have left 55 people dead, 12 missing, and 168 injured. Material damages are estimated at more than VND 16.6 trillion (approximately USD 655 million).
Nguyễn Chí Cẩn, Vice Chairman of the Gia Lai provincial Red Cross Society, said the initiative aims to quickly share the hardships faced by residents in flood-hit regions. The first humanitarian convoys will deliver food and supplies to Hà Tĩnh and Thanh Hóa provinces.
“We hope that all levels of the Red Cross, volunteer clubs, youth groups, organizations, businesses, and philanthropists will join hands to support these meaningful convoys,” said Mr. Cẩn. Donations are being received at the Red Cross headquarters, 374 Trần Hưng Đạo, Quy Nhơn Ward and Branch 2, 22 Trần Hưng Đạo, Pleiku Ward.
To strengthen logistics, the Red Cross has coordinated with local transport companies to open multiple collection points across the province. Two main depots have been established at 126 Lý Nam Đế and the Nguyễn Thiện Thuật parking lot in Diên Hồng Ward, with additional points at Thánh Tâm Church in Hội Phú Ward. More sites will be added in the coming days.
The relief operation is divided into two phases:
*First convoy: October 1–10, 2025
*Second convoy: October 11–20, 2025
Drawing on past relief experiences, including the August mission to Nghệ An, volunteer leader Nguyễn Thành Tâm and his team from Thành Tâm Transport are again mobilizing aid.
“We aim to gather enough donations for two trucks carrying about 30 tons of goods and one small pickup, scheduled to depart on October 10, or earlier if ready, to ensure timely delivery,” Tâm said.
Between October 2 and 4, more than 10 tons of essentials, including instant noodles, rice, condiments, bottled water, and clothing, were collected, sorted, and loaded by volunteers for dispatch.
Local residents have also shown strong support. Huỳnh Thị Cao Lý from Hội Phú Ward shared: “I came to donate essential items to help people stabilize their lives after the floods. I’ll also encourage my family and friends to join.”
Among the active participants is Lê Minh Nam, a social media influencer with nearly 850,000 TikTok followers, known for using his platform to mobilize donations. “Besides transporting goods, I’ll keep the community updated throughout the journey so donors can see their contributions reach the right places,” Nam said.
Authorities have also stepped in. Nguyễn Đình Thức, Vice Chairman of Diên Hồng Ward People’s Committee, confirmed the local government’s cooperation in providing collection sites and encouraging residents to contribute.
“Typhoon No. 10 has caused severe damage in northern and north-central provinces. We are committed to supporting affected communities during these difficult times,” he stated.
