The 22-year-old also played a central role in Vietnam’s gold-medal run in men’s football at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand, anchoring the U22 squad alongside teammate Dinh Bac. His composure and reliability were widely regarded as instrumental to Vietnam’s title.

Trung Kien is set to rejoin the Vietnam U23 national team on December 23 as preparations begin for the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia. Vietnam will open their campaign against Jordan on January 6, face Kyrgyzstan on January 9, and conclude the group stage against host nation Saudi Arabia on January 12.
