Vietnamese striker Nguyễn Đình Bắc has been nominated in two individual categories at the 2026 Devotion Awards, underscoring a strong showing for the country’s football sector across this year’s shortlist.

Organisers from Thể thao & Văn hóa newspaper, under the Vietnam News Agency, confirmed Bắc’s inclusion in both “Sports Personality of the Year” and “Young Sports Personality of the Year”, following a series of notable achievements at regional tournaments.

Vietnamese football also features prominently in the “Sporting Achievement of the Year” category, with two teams named among the top three nominees: the Vietnam U22 National Team and the Vietnam Women’s Futsal Team.

The U22 side earned recognition after securing the gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games and winning the Southeast Asian U23 Championship, reinforcing Vietnam’s position in youth football across the region.

The women’s futsal team, meanwhile, made history by claiming their first SEA Games gold after finishing as runners-up in the previous five editions. The team also advanced to the quarterfinals of the AFC Women’s Futsal Championship, marking a significant step forward on the continental stage.

At the individual level, Bắc’s nominations reflect his contributions to multiple title-winning campaigns, including the SEA Games 33, the Southeast Asian U23 Championship and the 2024 ASEAN Cup. He was also recognised domestically with the 2025 Vietnamese Silver Ball award.

The breadth of nominations highlights the growing influence of Vietnamese football within national sport, as both team and individual performances continue to drive success at major regional competitions.
